Welcome to Nopper (CKC Perm Reg’d) Dogs. We are Debbie and Keith Garland and are originally from Newfoundland. In 2002 we relocated to Ontario and now live on 120 acres of beautiful treed land in a little village named Toledo which is about half way between Ottawa and Kingston. Originally we started out in Boxers. Over the years we bred very infrequently, but managed to produce some award winning dogs. More importantly we produced some great companions who are living in their forever homes with wonderful people.

However, as time went on we wanted to live with slightly smaller dogs and ones that would be very competitive in obedience and conformation. The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever fit the bill. Next came the Chinese Cresteds. Debbie has always been fascinated with these unique looking little dogs who have such a big attitude. Last but not least came the Pomeranians. Keith’s grandfather bred Poms in Labrador when Keith was a child and he has always had a real affinity for these little bundles of joy.

After so many years of just having one breed, living with 3 breeds is proving to be 3 times the fun. They all have such great personalities and are continually teaching us about dogs and life in general.

We believe in breeding not only good looking dogs but also healthy ones. To that end we CERF, Optigen, Ohip and thyroid test all our dogs. We also feed a RAW diet which we feel greatly contributes to the health and longevity of our dogs. Together with a limited vaccine schedule and annual titer testing we feel we are doing our best to provide the highest quality of life for our companions.

We take breeding very seriously and carefully match potential new owners according to life style and personality. We feel totally responsible for these little lives and unless we feel they are going to the best forever homes we can provide, they stay with us - sometimes forever.
